The Lexus GS is a mid-size luxury executive car based on the Toyota Crown platform. The first generation was introduced in 1991 in Japan and in 1993 in the United States, Europe and Asia. The second generation GS, with V8 engine and new platform came out in 1998. The third generation was unveiled in 2005 at the North American International Auto Show. The main competitors of the Lexus GS are the Mercedes-Benz E Class and the BMW 5 Series.

The latest Lexus GS has 3.5 liter V6 rear wheel drive engine and high-output, permanent-magnet, electric-drive motor with 340 hp (total system). It is a certified Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV). It has aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.27 and compression ratio of 11.8:1. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 sec and has a top speed of 131 mph (electronically limited). For superb handling and better traction control and stability, the new GS is fitted with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management with cutoff switch (VDIM) which includes Lexus Traction Control (TRAC) and Lexus Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). And for the most responsive driving it has an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT).  

The GS boasts of a most comfortable driving and riding experience with its Lexus Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) with electronically modulated damping electronic suspension, front independent, double-wishbone with coil springs, gas-pressurized shock absorbers and stabilizer bar, rear independent, multi-link with coil springs, gas-pressurized shock absorbers and stabilizer bar  and an optional Active Power Stabilizer Suspension System.

Some of its truly wonderful features for an a more comfortable driving experience include cruise control,  dual-zone automatic climate control and automatic recirculation mode, interior air filter with smog sensor, Bluetooth technology, full-color display backup camera, SmartAccess for remote keyless entry and keyless ignition, remote-linked windows, power tilt-and-slide remote-linked moonroof with one-touch open/close and sliding sunshade, HomeLink Transceiver for garage, gate, home lighting and home security systems, theft-deterrent and engine-immobilizer system.

It also has power windows with one-touch auto open/close, power door locks, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirrors, power seats with 10-way controls (including lumbar) for driver and front passenger, heated and ventilated seats with multi-stage fan, power trunk closer and Power rear sunshade. For the most convenient and luxurious driving, it has intuitive parking assist, power tilt-and-telescopic steering column with automatic tilt-away, steering-wheel-mounted audio and display controls, retained accessory power for windows and moonroof, Electronic Chromatic Device (ECD) instrumentation, illuminated entry system and outside temperature gauge.  Optional Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Voice-activated DVD Navigation System and Lexus Link for dedicated cellular phone, Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology and 24-hour live support, remote door lock/unlock, emergency services notification, stolen vehicle location assistance, driving directions and personal calling.

For braking capability, the GS has four-wheel, ventilated, power-assisted disc brakes, Anti-Lock Braking (ABS), Brake Assist, Electronic Controlled Braking (ECB), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), 13.1 in ventilated front discs and 12.2 in ventilated rear discs. It also has regenerative braking capability which enables the energy captured during braking to be used in recharging the battery. 

To enhance passenger protection it has complete driver, front passenger and rear passenger airbags and side-impact door beams, front and rear three-point seatbelts for all seating positions with front shoulder-belt anchor-height adjusters, front and outboard rear seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, Automatic Locking Retractor/Emergency Locking Retractor (ALR/ELR) seatbelts for all passenger seating positions and Child Restraint Seat (CRS).

The GS also has an optional Pre-Collision System (PCS), 245/40VR18 all-season run-flat tires and Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound Audio System with 7.1 architecture and in-dash, single-feed, six-disc DVD/CD auto-changer and XM Satellite Radio capability or SIRIUS Satellite Radio capability.
