BMW 3 series E90 Specs & Information

The E90 BMW 3 Series has all the distinct trademark of its predecessors which car enthusiasts have come to love since BMW made the 3 Series, -one of the most distinguished cars ever made. It is the fifth generation of the 3 Series and can be considered as one of the best luxury cars by BMW. The E90 model series is in production since 2005, came to the United States as a 2006 model pelacing the BMW E36 3 series . There are four variants of the new BMW 3 series model the e90 sedan, E91 station wagon, E92 coupe , and a convertible version called E93 , since its release became the best selling BMW model.

The successor of the famous E46 BMW, the new 3 guickly became one of the best selling cars worldwide, and by the end of the year it was launched, more than 300,000 units were sold.

The E90 series cars introduced several new industry first technologies, and a BMW first the hardtop convertible model.

Engine platforms are redesigned as well and yet again BMW pulled off what it does the best build “driving machines” , -the most anticipated model is the 335i, this vehicle comes with a brilliant twin turbo engine, this 3 liter inline six twin turbo is hands down one of the best engines ever designed and from a tuners point of view possibilities are almost endless in tweaking this engine. The 3.0 and 2.5 naturally aspirated engine was only available in the e90 330i sedans in 2006, with the 2007 model year BMW introduced the new 2.8 and the previously mentioned twin turbo engine. The motorsport version of the e90 will be introduced to the us market in early 2008.

New features include active steering, active cruise control, adaptive headlights, comfort access, six speed manual and auto transmissions, and the controversial idrive system. The new vehicle has received new safety features as well and since it’s introduction departed on the usual I call it- “collect all awards” tour from enthusiasts and the automotive press.

Driving impressions: being a "BMW head" --well, to put in a few words BMW nailed it with the e90. The engines regardless of which one you driving are all able to deliver excellent power the chassis is extremely good the cars handle great in every day driving conditions no matter what your style is. Big improvements in the fuel economy department as well, I was sceptical about the posted numbers before I got to actually having to drive the cars myself. The 3.0 twin turbo engine is simply amazing with near m3 capabilities this car is sure to impress anyone that drives it.

I am usually not a fan of automatic transmissions but this new six speed auto tranny is just simply great the response time on shifting is to say the least impressive and if your car is equipped with the new paddle shifters/optional/ once used to it, just push on the paddle and the shift is immediate with no hesitation.

The only feature I cannot make piece with so far is the position of the window switches both driver and passenger side are badly located and it takes special effort to reach the switches, I have always been a fan of the consol located switches.
