Audi Buyer's Guide


The Audi TT was first unveiled as a concept car in 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show before it was offered as a sports car in 1998. It was designed by J. Mays and Freeman Thomas and Martin Smith for the interior. The name TT was from NSU TT engine which was produced by NSU in the 60s. The latest Audi TT is available in coupe and roadster variants.

The Audi TT Coupe is available in two engine types: the 2.0 liter and the 3.2 liter. The 2.0 liter coupe has a maximum output of 200 hp at 5,100-6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 207 lb-ft at 1,800-5,000 rpm and maximum speed of 130 mph electronically limited. The 3.2 liter coupe has a maximum output of 250 hp at 6,300 rpm, maximum torque of 236 lb-ft at 2,500-3,000 rpm and maximum speed of 130 mph electronically limited.

The TT Coupe has the most advanced and innovative features which includes an advanced anti-theft vehicle alarm system with theft deterrent light in driver's door and engine immobilizer, Automatic Climate Control, Driver information system (DIS), electronic cruise control, Electronic stabilization program (ESP) and radio frequency remote locking system.

Exterior features including: aerodynamic ellipsoid halogen projector headlights with variable focus reflectors, integrated low beam and high beam tubes and polycarbonate covers, convex outer right rearview mirror, door sill trims with aluminum inlay, driver's side exterior rear view mirror, rear Lights, retractable rear spoiler, heat-insulating glass windshield with tinted sun band, power adjustable and heated exterior mirrors.

For the interior features the Audi TT has Alcantara leather sport seats, sport steering wheel, brushed aluminum interior trim, backlit instrument cluster with automatic brightness control, cigarette lighter and ashtray in the center console, dipping inside rear view mirror, driver and front passenger dual-stage and dual-threshold airbag with an optional dual-stage front airbags with occupant sensor, Lower Anchorage and Tethers for Children (LATCH) in rear seats with ISOFIX and upper rear child safety seat anchors and Seat belt warning light and tone. For the audio and entertainment system, it has an Audi audio Sound System with seven active speakers and five-channel DSP amplifier with a total output of 140 watts and Audi Concert II AM/FM stereo.

The TT Roadster has a premium package which includes 17 five-arm trapezoid design alloy wheels and an optional 225/50 performance tires, advanced anti-theft vehicle alarm system, aerodynamic ellipsoid halogen projector headlights, Alcantara leather sport seats, Audi audio Sound System, auto-dimming, anti-glare interior mirror, an optional Audi symphony AM/FM/SAT stereo with in-dash 6-disc CD changer, automatic climate control, automatic retractable wind deflector, backlit instrument cluster with automatic brightness control, brushed aluminum interior trim, door sill trims with aluminum inlay, Driver information system (DIS), dual-stage front airbags with sensors, electronic cruise control, electronically adjustable front seats, fully automatic electrically-operated soft top, heated front seats, heat-insulating glass windshield with tinted sun band, Homelink universal garage door opener, power adjustable, heated exterior mirrors, retractable rear spoiler, seat belt warning light and tone, side airbags for front seats, tire mobility and pressure monitoring system and tool kit.
